I AM disenchanted to note the continued reference being made to the ethnicity of the President-elect.
He is being referred to as being the first Rotuman to be chosen as the President of Fiji.
It seems some of us are still living in the past and are unable to embrace the fact that under the 2013 Constitution we are all Fijians.
Therefore, by giving more prominence to his excellency’s ethnic background is in my view tantamount to segregating us along racial lines which is contrary to the spirit of the Constitution.
We must accept that first and foremost he is a Fijian.
