Leader of the Opposition Inia Seruiratu has extended warm Diwali greetings to all Fijians, calling on the nation to embrace the festival’s message of light, hope, and togetherness.
In his 2025 Diwali message, he said the festival holds a special place in Fiji’s multicultural society.
“Diwali is one of the most significant celebrations in our multicultural society,” he said.
“It reminds us of the eternal message that light will always triumph over darkness and that good will always prevail over evil. It is a time that inspires us to renew our faith in hope and unity.”
Mr Seruiratu said the festival of lights brings Fijians of all backgrounds together in celebration and reflection.
“During this festive period, thousands of Fijians will light diyas, decorate their homes, share sweets, and come together in joy and thanksgiving.”
“It is a moment not only for celebration but also for reflection — to be thankful for the blessings we enjoy and to extend compassion, love, and generosity to those who are less fortunate.”
He said the true spirit of Diwali lies in its message of renewal and unity.
“It reminds us that, regardless of our backgrounds, beliefs, or circumstances, we are one people bound by our shared love for this beautiful country we call home.”
“In this spirit, I encourage all Fijians to take this opportunity to strengthen the bonds of friendship and understanding that unite us as a nation.”
“May the divine light of Diwali bring peace, prosperity, and happiness to every home.”
“And may it continue to guide our nation toward a brighter, more inclusive, and more hopeful future.”
