THE brewing showdown between Ubayd Haider and Mikaele Ravalaca will happen on February 22, 2025.
This was according to Haider’s manager Alan Kumar, who is currently in discussion with Ravalaca’s Australian-based manager Gus Wahab. Kumar is bringing back the Bula Boxing Promotions from next year with the first event planned and booked for February 22.
“After getting confirmation from the Boxing Commission of Fiji for February 22, 2025, I wrote to Mikaele Ravalaca’s manager Gus Wahab. He is a very good gentleman; we had a very good conversation in terms of getting this fight for the public,” he said.
While both camps are all in for the fight to happen, discussions of purse remain in the air.
“There is a positive sign, and we are just discussing on purse. We offered them around $5000 which he is not agreeing on. The discussion is on maybe by the end of Friday, we will come to an agreement on a certain amount, and by next week, we will sign the contract,” Kumar said.
Kumar who is an events manager with Bula Events Group and who will be the promoter of Bula Boxing is adamant that the bout will only happen under his promotion.
“Only I can make this fight happen because I manage Ubayd Haider, and he will listen to what I say. We are not dodging anyone; we just have fights lined-up for this year. We want to get this fight for the public to witness. To the public, sorry that we are keeping you waiting but we have fights in line, Haider is fighting for an IBO title on October 26 in Nadi where he is fighting an Australian opponent. This is very important for us and we are taking things step-by-step and from there we look forward to February 22,” he said.
The promotion will be held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
