IMPLEMENTING grid extension under the rural electrification programme on the island of Beqa would be a difficult task says Minister Infrastructure Jone Usamate.

He highlighted this issue after SODELPA Opposition MP Ro Teimumu Kepa asked if farmers on the island were also assisted through the programme.

Mr Usamate said the island have access to solar systems.

“The island has access to solar systems. Grid extension might be a difficult task.

“I’ve been to the village of Rukua where they have solar type systems,” Mr Usamate said.
