Government is consulting with stakeholders so they could work together to address issues causing drawbacks for the sugar industry.
Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Ifereimi Vasu noted this while addressing farmers and landowners in Labasa for a consultation on issues raised during the 2023-2024 National Budget Consultation last week.
Mr Vasu said it was the Government’s focus to ensure that sugar industry thrives.
Some of the major issues raised by farmers and landowners were premium, leases and age barriers in acquiring leases.
Mr Vasu also conducted a similar consultation at Nadogo Secondary School for farmers in the Wainikoro Sector.
