Goundar ferry passengers safe

THE Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) have responded to the 40 people who are currently stranded on the Lomaiviti Princess 11 vessel.

According to a video posted on Facebook, the vessel became stranded after it had struck a reef .

MSAF CEO Joeli Cawaki told The Fiji Times that a ship was sent to assist the passengers and the stranded vessel.

“At the moment, the new shipping boat is trying to pull them out,” Mr Cawaki said.

“The new shipping boat Saint Mary is trying to pull them out and if not successful then the passengers will be transferred to the Saint Mary and will take them to Levuka.”
