The future of golf in Fiji continues to brighten as Golf Fiji receives a boost for its junior development program.

The Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) donated two sets of junior golf clubs to assist young players in their growth within the sport.

The clubs have been handed over to the Fiji Golf Club (FGC) in Suva, which currently has around 30 junior golfers in its foundation program. Other active junior programs include Novotel in Nadi, which has 35 players, while Ba and Lautoka have around 10 each.

Golf Fiji President Amitesh Chandra expressed his gratitude for FASANOC’s support, highlighting the importance of junior golf development in the country.

“Golf Fiji aims to promote golf at all levels, and the junior foundation is one way of nurturing players for the future,” Chandra said.

As part of its ongoing commitment, Golf Fiji has pledged to cover the costs for all junior players participating in national events, ensuring accessibility and development opportunities for young golfers.

“Ba, Lautoka, Labasa, Novotel, and Fiji Golf Club are actively promoting junior golf, and Golf Fiji wants to assist all clubs where possible, depending on funding,” Chandra added.

Looking ahead, 2025 is set to be a big year for Golf Fiji, with a packed calendar of events aimed at further growing the sport. Additionally, the organization plans to hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in March to discuss future plans and initiatives.

With continued support from stakeholders and a strong focus on junior development, Golf Fiji is laying the groundwork for the next generation of top golfers in the country.
