We all must strife to keep our mothers happy and always seek their blessings, said Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Sashi Kiran.
She made the comments while speaking at the Annual Mariamman Puja at Venkatesh Perumal Temple in Nawai, Nadi last night.
“As we come to temple to pray and fast and worship on this special occasion, I plead that this Mothers Day we make a promise to fast from violence and give our mothers love and respect they deserve,” she said.
“It is my request that on this Mothers Day, we take this pledge that we continue to give our mothers the same love and respect that we give to Maa Durga,” she said.
“When you do that, your home, your village and the whole country will flourish.”
She also urged mothers around the country to form to form clubs in their areas to empower themselves.
“Previously, there were lots of such clubs and our mothers were in the forefront of development.”
“Please form the clubs and join our Ministry and access all the trainings, capacity building programs and grants.”
“We want to see all settlements and areas in Fiji thrive and grow.”
“Once thar happens, the whole country will be peaceful.”
