GOSPEL High School is on the brink of history as their U15 rugby league team fondly known as the Gospel Saints prepare for their first-ever appearance in a Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League final at the 4R Stadium, Govind Park in Ba this Saturday.
Team manager Agnes Wye described the achievement as a proud moment not just for the players, but for the entire school, including staff, parents and supporters who have rallied behind the team.
“This is a milestone achievement for us,” she said.
The Saints have impressed throughout the competition, progressing steadily from the quarterfinals to secure their place in the decider against the Nasinu Panthers.
Their journey has ignited excitement across the school, with supporters expected to travel in numbers to cheer them on.
Wye acknowledged that while the road to the final has been rewarding, the team remains grounded and focused.
“There is a lot of excitement, but we know this will be a tough match,” she said.
Despite a minor injury concern involving their captain, the squad remains largely fit and ready for the challenge ahead.
Preparations have been steady, with the team training daily before heading into camp later this week as they build towards Saturday’s clash.
Wye also highlighted the importance of unity within the squad, describing it as the backbone of their success.
“We cannot work alone. Teamwork is our strength,” she added.
Gospel Saints will be chasing not just victory, but a moment that could define the school’s sporting history.
