German company christens vessel

A German-based shipping company christened one of its newest cargo vessels, the MV Marguerita, in Portland Harbour this past weekend.

The Portland Press Herald reports MST Mineralien Schiffahrt held a naming ceremony on Sunday afternoon for the ship at Portland’s Ocean Gateway Terminal.

The vessel is named after Marguerita DeLuca, whose husband has known MST’s founder for 45 years. It is measured at 185 metres long, or roughly the size of two football fields.
