Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts Charan Jeath Singh has not been assigned responsibility for the Sugar Industry under his latest ministerial assignment published in the Fiji Government Gazette.
Legal Notice No. 118, dated August 21, 2026, sets out Mr Singh’s responsibilities following changes to ministerial portfolios earlier this month.
The notice, issued by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka under section 92(3) of the Constitution, revokes Mr Singh’s previous assignments and responsibilities under Legal Notice No. 4 of 2026 with effect from August 4.
It then assigns Mr Singh responsibility for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Culture, Heritage and Arts.
The divisions falling under his portfolio are the Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs and the Department of Heritage and Arts.
The notice also places the Fiji Arts Council, Fiji Museum and National Trust of Fiji under Mr Singh’s ministerial responsibilities.
However, the Sugar Industry is not listed among the Government businesses, divisions or written laws assigned to Mr Singh under the new notice.
The ministerial assignment was signed by Prime Minister Rabuka and dated August 21, 2026.
Tomasi Tunabuna remains Minister for Sugar.
