FULTON Hogan Highways Joint Venture (FHHJV) is doing its best to make sure its workers are provided with the proper training to get the best out of them.
Former FHHJV Knowledge Transfer Manager Danny Poharama recently conducted refresher courses for grader operators and depot supervisors at the company’s Samabula, Lami, Rewa, Korovou and Taunovo depots.
Mr Poharama, who now oversees the companies’ three major projects in New Zealand, said in a statement that it was important to keep enhancing the skills of their workers.
“This is part and parcel of ongoing efforts by FHHJV to continually improve the skills base of the company and its employees, which translates into the quality of our work performance,’ said Mr Poharama.
“Being a grader operator is more than moving gravel around. A grader is an expensive piece of equipment, so it is important that the operator knows how to identify and report anything that does not look right with the machine,” he added.
The week-long exercise also included an on-site demonstration by Mr Poharama at Waiqanake Road with the Taunovo crew.
