The Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) will send SMS messages via mobile phones to sirdars to allocate daily cane cutting quotas for harvesting gangs.
CEO Graham Clark said the initiative was part of an innovative new system to help allocate and monitor quotas for gangs to harvest and deliver cane in a timely manner.
“The new automated SMS-based system replaces an old paper-based system and now offers a more efficient means of directly communicating quotas on a daily basis,” he said.
