Parliament is back on so there will be interest on what goes on in the House.
In fact there were some interesting discussions.
We also know that Niko Nawaikula has been disqualified from being a candidate in the 2022 election in the wake of his seat being declared vacant by the Speaker.
However, the big one on the front page of The Fiji Times’ edition for Tuesday, May 10, is on a village on Kia Island which is off the coast of Macuata, Vanua Levu.
Almost 18 months after Tropical Cyclone Yasa devastated Yaro Village on Kia Island, we learn that only three of the 26 houses destroyed have been rebuilt.
Village headman Kemueli Lautiki said TC Yasa destroyed 26 houses and partially affected 12 houses when it swept through on December 17, 2020.
The three homes were rebuilt through support from families living abroad.
Villagers claim they did not receive any housing assistance from the Government. Read their story in The Fiji Times.
