The Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd is willing to lend up to $14billion over the next six years in support of affordable housing projects in Fiji.
The bank’s position is outlined in a letter by its Fiji country head, Rabih Yazbek, to the Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Finance, Shiri Gounder, and Ritesh Vij of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in relation to plans unveiled recently to build 3000 affordable houses in Fiji under a public-private partnership.
The letter has been published on the Government’s Tender Link page.
Mr Yazbeck said the bank had a strong track record in delivering structured financing solutions for infrastructure projects of a similar size, complexity, risk profile and nature (including major public-private partnership projects) in Australia.
He added the bank had a firm commitment to supporting better housing outcomes in Fiji.
