FijiFirst politician Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has resigned as party general secretary.

The resignation was made public after a three-page letter was posted to the party’s Facebook page on Sunday night.

The former Attorney-General wrote that the series of medical procedures he had undergone in Singapore, with more to follow in the coming week, rendered him unable to carry out all the responsibilities required of the general secretary.

Opposition Member of Parliament Faiyaz Koya has been appointed the acting general secretary. That’s the lead news on the front page of The Fiji Times for Tuesday, December 12.

In the second story, the Ministry of Rural & Maritime Development and Disaster Management had failed to collect $2 million in revenue, half of which was more than five years in the books.
