Friday 24/01 – Bad weather warning for parts of Fiji

Another bout of severe thunderstorm and heavy rainfall warning has been issued this afternoon.

The Fiji Meteorological Service said the warning is now in force for Western half of Viti Levu, in an area from Korolevu-Sigatoka-Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki.

Also, interior of Serua-Namosi, interior Nadroga Navosa, interior Ba to Ra and Naitasiri will be affected.

In the Borth, Bua, Western Macuata and Western Cakaudrove provinces are under the severe thunderstorm and heavy rainfall warning.

The weather office stated a trough of low-pressure approaches Fiji from the Southwest.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning areas over the next several hours.
