The Fiji Public Service Association is calling on the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to urgently deploy or recruit a qualified X-ray technician for Korovou Hospital.

FPSA General Secretary Judith Kotobalavu says the move is needed to restore diagnostic imaging services and ensure patients requiring urgent X-rays receive timely care.

The Association is also urging Government to speed up the recruitment of essential health workers, particularly in critical and specialised positions that directly affect patient care.

Kotobalavu says interim arrangements should be put in place so patients are not forced to face unnecessary financial or logistical burdens when seeking urgent diagnostic imaging services.

The FPSA is also calling for stronger workforce planning across public health facilities to ensure specialist positions are adequately staffed.

It says Government should review retention strategies for allied health professionals, including remuneration, career progression, training opportunities and working conditions, to address the loss of skilled personnel.

Kotobalavu says the FPSA remains committed to working constructively with Government to strengthen the public service and ensure healthcare workers are supported to deliver quality services to all Fijians.
