THREE police officers and a senior customs officer have pleaded not guilty to illegally importing more than four kilograms of methamphetamine.
Appearing in the High Court in Lautoka yesterday before Justice Aruna Aluthge were Apenisa Matadigo, Neumi Donumainasava, Osea Raicama Dakai and senior customs officer Uraia Tuidama Bolalailai who all denied one count of unlawful engagement in dealings for importation of an illicit drug.
The four are alleged to have, without lawful authority, engaged in dealings with each other and others for the importation of 4.8685 kilograms of methamphetamine.
In addition Osea Raicama Dakai, head of the Intelligence Unit of the Fiji Revenue and Customs Services, pleaded not guilty to one count of breach of0 secrecy of Section 52(1) of the FRCS Act 1998.
He is accused of unlawfully disclosing secret and confidential information obtained in the performance of his duties between May 3 and May 16, 2025.
Also appearing alongside the officers was Nigerian national Chukweumeka Ikenna Phabian who pleaded not guilty to a count of engaging in dealings with each other and others for the importation of 4.8685 kilograms of methamphetamine.
The case has been adjourned to May 11 for voire dire proceedings.
