Four likely for debut

THE FIJI Water Flying Fijians will unleash four debutants when they open their Pacific Nations Cup campaign against Canada tomorrow night.

Ba native Isoa Tuwai, Penaia Cakobau, Inoke Ravuiwasa and Terio Tamani have been named in the 23-member squad by head coach Senirusi Seruvakula.

Tuwai will make his debut in the starting XV, while Cakobau, Ravuiwasa and Tamani will provide impact from the bench.

Seruvakula said the team had prepared well for the opening match and was ready for the challenge.

“The team has been preparing well. No injury in the team and everyone is ready to go.

“The four debutants, these players showed potential and they earn the spot.”

Tuwai will man the back of the scrum while Frank Lomani will don the nine jersey as Isaiah Armstrong will slot at first five-eighth.

The backline also features Manasa Mataele, Kalaveti Ravouvou, Virimi Vakatawa, Joji Nasova and Isikeli Rabitu.

Up front, Peni Ravai, Tevita Ikanivere and Mesake Doge will start in the front row, with Mesake Vocevoce and Temo Mayanavanua named in the second row. Kitione Salawa, Motikiai Murray and Tuwai complete the starting forward pack.

The Flying Fijians will be aiming for a strong start to their Pacific Nations Cup campaign against Canada.
