For 43 years, Taina Hicks dedicated her life to the Motibhai Group of Companies and its retail outlet — Prouds Fiji.
This interesting journey started way back in 1980, when as a teenager, Mrs Hicks interestingly took up a salesgirl role with the company straight after completing her studies at Jasper Williams High School.
Her decision to remain a part of the Prouds family during her entire career sprung out of her dedication and merely the treatment she received from her superior these past four decades.
“For all those past years, I never intended to leave the company because my bosses were so good to me,” Mrs Hicks said.
“They treated me like their family. They were always there for me when I needed any help.
“When the new staff in my department call in need of my help during my leave or day offs I’m always there for them.”
She inspires in her children and the young generation the importance of dedication and commitment.
“I always tell my children whatever job they do, they have to remain committed and dedicated.”
Mrs Hicks said what had kept her to remain in the company was the treatment she received from her boss.
Mrs Hicks held the position of supervising the administration at the company’s headquarters at the Nadi International Airport.
Nadi store manager Ashwin Chand regarded Mrs Hicks as the pillar of their strength and motherly figure to all the staff.
“We really missed her,” he said. Mrs Hicks is married to a former well known soccer player, George Hicks.
They have three children and eight grandchildren. Last week the company farewelled her and also celebrated her long years of service.
