THE Fiji National University Foundation, an initiative aimed at assisting its disadvantaged students, was officially launched yesterday.

Tui Macuata Ratu Wiliame Katonivere officiated as chief guest at the launch at the Namaka campus in Nadi.

The FNU Foundation will serve as the charity heart for the university, providing key support services for disadvantaged students.

These services include scholarships and student support, the Coffee Forward Initiative, Veilomani Closet and the Veilomani Food Pantry.

Ratu Wiliame said the initiative would be an instrumental contribution to the holistic development and education of all Fijians.

“In addition to giving back to the community, the FNU Foundation creates opportunities, breaks barriers and offers all Fijians access to higher education and the ability to dream, to build and ultimately to succeed,” he said.

FNU Vice Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo Baba said the investments made in education today would determine the prosperity of the nation.

“By supporting the FNU Foundation, you are not merely donating, you are planting seeds of hope, nurturing talent and shaping the future of Fiji and the Pacific,” she said.

Ms Nabobo Baba urged corporate partners, members of the diplomatic corps, government leaders and alumni present to contribute to the noble cause.
