Former Fiji citizens have given $776,000 worth of medical supplies to Fiji.

Satya Narayan and his son Saajal Narayan, originally from Bua, now living in Virginia, own gas stations, convenience stores, motels, a trucking company, a car dealership and rental properties.

“We have always helped Fiji in times of distress and this is no different,” said Saajal Narayan, speaking to this newspaper from the US recently.

“We are sending medical kits, surgical kits, crutches, medical beds, examination tables and medical equipment to Fiji.”

He said all the materials were bought from family funds and the items were handed over to the Fiji embassy in the USA last week.

“The container will leave here next week and arrive in Fiji mid-June.”

In 2018, during tropical cyclones Josie and Keni, the Narayan family gave $60,000 worth of relief items to Fiji.
