FORMER Fijiana Drua captain Bitila Tawake has been named in the Chiefs Manawa squad for the 2024 Sky Super Rugby Aupiki competition.

Tawake will feature for the New Zealand side after leading the Fijiana to back-to-back Super Rugby W titles.

She will be joined by Fiji-born Tanya Kalounivale.

Kalounivale, a former Suva Grammar School student, was part of the Black Ferns side which won the 2021 Women’s Rugby World Cup.

Players will assemble in the new year to begin their preparations for the 2024 season.

Sky Super Rugby Aupiki is a professional domestic competition featuring four women’s teams across New Zealand – Blues, Chiefs Manawa, Hurricanes, and South Island team Matatu based in Christchurch.

The competition is designed as a showcase of New Zealand women’s rugby, and a pathway to the Black Ferns
