Graham Leung says he was dismissed as attorney-general via text message while overseas, with no warning or official communication from Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka before or after the decision.
“There was no prior communication between the Prime Minister and I on Barbara Malimali or the commission report,” he said.
“I got a text message at 5am in the morning in Hong Kong, which would have been about 10 to 9 in Fiji.”
Mr Leung said he has still not received an official copy of the Commission of Inquiry’s final report.
“It has been more than two months since the report was published. I still have not received an official copy of the report detailing the official findings against me.
“I have to dig around on the internet to discover what I am supposed to have done.”
Despite his removal, Mr Leung said he would not challenge the decision: “The Prime Minister has the constitutional prerogative to recommend the dismissal of ministers.
“That is not a decision open to legal challenge. That ship has sailed.”
Calling the process (of the CoI) flawed, he said: “This is not justice. This is not the rule of law.”
