One of Fiji’s largest poultry producers Future Farms Pte Ltd (FFL) has once again been internationally recognised as a leading food safety management leader.
The company based in Ba was recertified with the ISO 22000 stamp under the International Organization of Standardisation for their Rooster branded chicken.
Certified by leading ISO certifiers, New Zealand based Telarc, FFL is now one of the first companies in the country and the region to adopt and be certified on the upgraded food safety management standards.
FFL general manager Stanley Raniga said during this period, the validation was encouraging and brought good news for their people’s efforts as they continued to weather the COVID-19 storm.
“As an essential business, FFL provides employment to more than 300 people and directly and indirectly supports over 2000 Fijians in Ba,” he said.
“The company is conscious of the responsibility this entails and guarantees the highest level of food safety and product quality.”
FFL owners BSP Life also congratulated the company’s achievements. BSP Life chief investment officer Pramesh Sharma said they were proud to have FFL in their investment portfolio.
“It proves that you can have an international standard organisation right here in Fiji; let alone in rural Ba,” he said.
“Our subsidiary companies such as FFL, is one of the reasons we continue to deliver returns to our policyholders and we will continue to do so in the future,” he said.
“The other very proud consideration is that all employees of FFL are locals and from Ba and the greater Ba community.”
Rooster Chicken is grown and processed in Fiji and is 100 per cent hormone free. Despite COVID-19, FFL continues to train and develop employees because of the specialised nature of the industry.
FFL scored 100 per cent in grants claimable for training and development last year, becoming only the second organisation in Fiji to achieve such a feat, since the inception of the Fiji National Training Act of 1970.
Effective training and development is necessary for a sustainable quality management system.
