AS Hindus in Fiji commemorate the Ram Navami festival, one should always follow the footsteps of Lord Rama in life, says India’s High Commissioner to Fiji, Vishvas Sapkal.
While speaking at the Ram Navami celebrations at the Brahma Kumari Centre in Suva yesterday, Mr Sapkal said everyone knew Lord Rama was the ideal and perfect king, father, son and husband and he gained perfection in everything he did in his life.
“This is the biggest lesson people can learn from him. People can use this to change and make changes in their lives from this lesson,” Mr Sapkal said.
He said Fiji had a connection with Lord Rama where more than 2000 Ramayana mandali and prayers were conducted every Friday.
“A lot of kirtan and bhajan take place every week to honour Lord Rama. For the past two months, two groups from India came to Fiji and performed various dances and acts depicting his life ” he said.
He said the biggest lesson learnt from Lord Rama was that people should not have hatred and anger towards each other.
He added if people wanted to reach out to others hearts, people should listen carefully and show respect.
Ram Navami is celebrated to signify the birth of Lord Rama and it will be celebrated tomorrow by Hindu followers around the country.
