Discipline is the cornerstone of today’s match says Vodafone Fiji Bati Captain and Melbourne Storm prop Tui Kamikamica as they face off against the Cook Islands in round 2 of the Pacific Rugby League Bowl Championship.

Kamikamica sets the tone by highlighting the positive energy and good mood within the team throughout the week.

“The mood has been good the boys have brought a lot of energy, especially during the week, it starts from our first session on Monday,” said Kamikamica.

“The players understand the significance of the weekend’s outcome, and leading up today (yesterday), the boys had a good energy coming into captain run, because we know last session for the week, getting us ready for the match against the Cook Islands.”

Reflecting on their previous match against Papua New Guinea, Kamikamica acknowledges the need for improvement in their discipline, particularly when it comes to attacking the try-line.

He stresses the importance of patience and composure in executing their offensive plays to ensure more effective scoring opportunities.

“Our defence is good against PNG, and our focus is to be nice and disciplined with out-sets, to get a lot of energy to carry the ball, so yeah discipline is one of the most important things to go in tomorrow’s (today’s) match.

Kamikamica urges his teammates to have faith in their abilities and to stay true to their playing styles, avoiding unnecessary changes as they represent their country on the international stage.

“Told the boys is to believe in themselves, don’t change anything what you do in club level, especially now with the international game playing for our country, most of the boys got emotional and stuff, also playing at home, just those little things.

Kamikamica identifies the need for a strong start, particularly from their resilient outside backs who are poised to set the tone in the first 10-15 minutes.

He extends a warm invitation to all fans and supporters of the Fiji Bati to show their unwavering support by turning up in large numbers to cheer the team on in their second Test match.
