A flash flood warning remains in force for the whole of the Fiji Group as a trough of low pressure, with associated cloud and rain, continues to affect the country.
According to weather office, persistent rainfall is increasing the risk of flash flooding, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Residents are being urged to remain alert as river levels may rise rapidly following periods of heavy rain.
A flood warning is also in force for all low-lying areas adjacent to and downstream of several major rivers.
These include the Nakauvadra River near Rakiraki Town, the Naseyani area along the Yaqara River, Tavua at the Nasivi River and Tavua Town Bridge, the Navala River, Ba at the Toge River, and Ba at the FSC Mill River.
High tide levels may further worsen flooding in coastal and river mouth areas.
In Lautoka, the afternoon high tide is forecast at 2.02 metres around 3.51pm, while Suva is expected to experience a high tide of 1.84 metres around 4.01pm.
Authorities warn that floodwaters may break river banks and inundate roads, properties and nearby towns.
Flash flooding caused by isolated heavy rain may also affect drainage systems, small streams, low-water bridges, Irish crossings, roads and properties in low-lying areas.
