Five-year licence option available for tobacco peddlers

Those wishing to sell tobacco products can now obtain a licence for five years compared to only one year previously.

This, according to the Tobacco Control (Amendment) Regulations 2023 gazetted on February 3.

The registration fee is applicable to retail shops, daily shops, canteens, hawkers, hotels, nightclubs, service stations, restaurants, supermarkets and suki vendors.

The highest registration fee is for supermarkets with $21.74 for annual registration, $43.48 for two years, $65.22 for three years, $86.96 for four years and $108.70 for five years.

The second highest registration fee is for hotels, nightclubs, bar, taverns and clubs where the annual fee is $17.39 and $86.96 for five years.

These regulations have come into force on 27 January 2023.
