THE transformation of the McDonald’s Fijian Drua women this season has been driven by improved fitness, stronger leadership and a better balance between Fijian flair and structured rugby.
This is according to Fijian Drua chief executive Jeff Miller as the team prepares to host the Waratahs in the grand final of the 2026 Super Rugby W competition.
Miller credited head coach of the side Mike Legge and his coaching staff for the team’s progress.
“I think the team is much fitter than they have been in the past couple of seasons, and they’re much more cohesive as well,” Miller said.
“They’ve found a balance between playing with Fijian flair, while also having the structure needed to succeed.”
Miller said the squad now displayed greater composure under pressure and had developed into a player led environment.
“The leadership within the team is player-driven, and Mike has facilitated that to make it happen.”
He also said the players had embraced the challenge throughout the season and would give everything in Saturday’s clash.
“They’re in good spirits. They’re excited about this weekend, and we’re excited to see them play.”
The Fijian Drua Women take on the Waratahs at 1.05pm this Saturday at 4R Stadium, Govind park in Ba.
