NEWWORLD IGA has been with the Fiji Cancer Society since 2016 and has assured the organisation of their intention to support them again this year.
The company yesterday presented a $43,274.28 cheque to the society chief executive officer Belinda Chan.
NEWWORLD head of merchandise and marketing, Ravish Patel said they had raised the amount during their Pinktober and Movember campaigns last year.
Mr Patel said their suppliers, customers and staff members had contributed to the amount that was handed over to the society. Company’s marketing co-ordinator Noeleen Navneeta said it was their strategy to give back to the community.
Ms Navneeta said despite the impact of COVID-19 last year, they had managed to raise the amount.
Society CEO Belinda Chan said they were grateful to the company for its assistance and support over the past few years.
Ms Chan said from the company’s contribution in the previous year, the society had managed to purchase a cancer drug mixing cabinet. She said they hoped to continue with the partnership.
