Fiji’s Heads of Missions are in the country for a three-day meeting that begins today.
Organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the diplomats will discuss Fiji’s national priorities following the launch of the National Development Plan, Foreign Policy White Paper, and the National Defence and Security Strategy.
They will also review sector plans to ensure strategic goals are achieved.
The meeting will be opened by Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Sitiveni Rabuka, who will share the People Coalition government’s vision for the missions.
The Heads of Missions will connect strategic discussions with mission operations to support Fiji’s national development and improve the livelihoods of Fijians.
They will also discuss Fiji’s foreign relations within the whole-of-government strategy and participate in panel discussions on key national interests and foreign policy goals, with a focus on maximizing returns on investment.
Permanent secretaries and senior officials will also attend.
The Heads of Missions will review Fiji’s new diplomatic manual to improve coordination between Fiji’s missions, host countries, and stakeholders.
