Fiji’s inflation eases to 2.9% in May, down from 3.3% in April

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the month of May slipped further down to 2.9 percent.

This compares to the CPI rate of 3.3 percent in April.

The Fiji Bureau of Statistics said the Consumer Price Index [CPI] is compiled to indicate average changes in the prices of goods and services purchased by households nationwide.

This data is based on monthly price collections carried out in the urban areas of Suva, Lami, Nasinu, Nausori, Lautoka, Nadi, Ba and Labasa.

The index is currently taken to represent price changes in the rural areas as well.
