Fiji’s earnings from tourism stands at $684m

Fiji’s earnings from tourism over the September quarter this year stood at $684million – a 32.4 per cent increase.

The 2023 September quarter earnings was $99.4million (17.0 per cent) higher than the amount recorded for the June quarter this year.

Australian tourists’ spending increased by $59.3 million to $326.5million when compated to the September quarter of 2022, contributing 47.7 per cent to the total.

Earnings from New Zealand tourists increased by $35.9million to $186.7million; when compared to the September quarter of 2022, contributing 27.3 per cent to the total.

Earnings from US tourists increased by $12.7million to $69million compared to the September quarter of 2022, contributing 10.1 per cent to the total.

For tourists from China, their spending increased by $19.3million to $21.9million; compared to the 2022 September quarter, contributing 3.2 per cent to the total.

Fiji’s earnings from tourism indicate the spending of international visitors, derived from an estimated average daily spend of visitors and the total visitor days in the country.
