A FIERCE contest for domination ended in a 24-20 victory for the Vodafone Fijiana XV over Manusina Samoa as they successfully defended the Oceania Rugby Women’s XV Championship title yesterday.
Tries for the Fijiana XV were scored by Bitila Tawake, Josivini Naihamu, Luisa Tisolo and Repeka Tove.
Samoa’s tries were handed in by Drenna Falaniko with two and Linda Fiafia with one.
Missed conversions which would have been helpful for either team were made by both teams as scores narrowed to the four-point difference at full-time.
This victory marks an end to their defensive run in the championship quest.
They thrashed Tonga 59-5 earlier in the week.
