VODAFONE Fijiana XV fullback Litiana Vueti is embracing a special moment as she prepares to run out at 4R Stadium at Govind Park in Ba for today’s clash against Samoa Women XV at 3.30pm.
The 27-year-old from Visoto, Ovalau said preparations have gone well despite wet weather conditions earlier in the week.
“Going on good, despite the rain this week. I want to thank God for His protection over us, we were able to manage our training,” Vueti said.
Today’s match also marks a significant occasion for the national women’s side, as they make their appearance at the venue, bringing top-level women’s rugby closer to fans in the west.
For Vueti, it is a proud moment to be part of a team continuing to break new ground for women’s rugby in the country.
She has called on supporters to turn up in numbers and rally behind the side.
“To all fans, supporters for Fijiana, please come and support us at 3.30pm. Come and support us, see you all there,” she said.
The match is expected to be a thrilling encounter, with both teams entering unbeaten after dominant wins over Tonga. Fijiana opened their campaign with an emphatic 85-5 victory, while Samoa also secured a convincing win.
Samoa Women XV captain Utumalama Atonio is anticipating a tough battle.
“It’s always exciting to play Fiji. In Fiji, it’s always going to be an occasion,” she said.
With momentum on both sides, fans can expect a high-intensity showdown this afternoon.
