TWENTY senior public servants from Fiji have been selected to undergo leadership building training at the China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong (CELAP).
The Chinese embassy in Suva held an induction gathering for the candidates at the Chinese Cultural Centre (CCC) in Suva on Thursday.
Director secretariat for the Ministry of Civil Service Samuela Moce said since its inception the program had benefited a lot of civil servants in providing the opportunity for exchanging of ideas and enhancing leadership capabilities.
“Those who attended training at CELAP included directors, deputy secretaries and some permanent secretaries, all these through the help of the Chinese Government,” Mr Moce said.
“The intensive training carried out by the CELAP is aimed at strengthening participants’ skills in the areas of public policies implementation, succession planning, projects implementation and service delivery and it is hoped that it will continue to assist Fiji’s civil service to increase its leadership capabilities and provide effective succession strategies for Government leaders.”
Meanwhile, Chinese ambassador to Fiji Qian Bo advised the participants on the nature of the training and what China had best to offer them on their visit.
The training will be held from June 20 to June 30.
