Fijian philanthropist receives USA Presidential medal

Fiji born award winning international performing artist and global philanthropist Sumeet Tappoo has been awarded the USA Presidential medal which acknowledges his dedication to humanitarian and philanthropic endeavours.

Describing his surprise, as he didn’t expect the award while performing at San Francisco on Sunday night (US time), Mr Tappoo said this recognition has heightened a sense of responsibility to continue striving for positive change in our world.

“My heart swells with gratitude and humility,” he said.

“I am currently on a concert tour of USA doing concerts to raise awareness of heart diseas in children and to get support for heart surgeries for the children of Fiji.

“I was taken by surprise on stage with this esteemed honour, leaving me speechless.”

Mr Tappoo, who is also the chairman of Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital Fiji is based in Bollywood

He was given the award by Ajay Jain Bhutoria, who is one of USA President Joe Biden’s top donor.
