The schedule for the 2025 Super Rugby Women’s competition has been released, with the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua W set to host two thrilling matches in Fiji.
Fans will have the chance to witness the team in action as they aim to reclaim their dominance in the competition.
As part of a doubleheader, and the celebration of International Women’s Day, the Fiian Drua W will take on the Reds on March 8 at Churchill Park in Lautoka at 1.05pm, followed by the men against the Chiefs at 3.30pm.
A week later, the Fijian Drua W will host the Brumbies W on March 15 in another exciting encounter at Churchill Park.
This standalone match is scheduled to kick off at 3.30pm, promising another Saturday afternoon spectacle for local fans.
The Fijian Drua W will begin its 2025 campaign against the Waratahs at the Allianz Stadium in Sydney on February 28. After its two home games, the Drua will conclude its regular season on March 23 with an away match against the Western Force at HBF Park in Perth.
The top two teams from the regular season will host the Super Rugby W’s semi-finals on the weekend of April 5, with the grand final scheduled for April 12.
A historic first-ever Super Rugby champions final will take place on April 17, where the winner of Super Rugby W will face the champion of New Zealand’s Super Rugby Aupiki.
Fijian Drua CEO Mark Evans acknowledged the team’s outstanding past achievements, including consecutive Super Rugby W titles in 2022 and 2023 and a runner-up finish in 2024.
However, he said that 2025 season would be a rebuilding phase for the team under a new interim head coach.
“We won Super Rugby W two years in a row (2022, 2023) and were runners-up in 2024,” he said.
“We obviously want to return to the winner’s podium in 2025, but we know it will not be easy. We’re in a rebuilding phase for our women’s program this year.
“We have a new interim head coach (Ifereimi Rawaqa), who is working on building more depth and a bigger pool of players to draw from. We have made significant investments in facilities in the off-season for the Fijian Drua W, so they will return to pre-season in early December with dedicated resources and the best possible preparation for 2025.”
“Hosting two matches in Fiji in 2025 is great for our fans, who will no doubt be ready to roar for their Drua both at the double header and the standalone matches.
Evans said having the Fijian Drua W take the field on International Women’s Day was particularly exciting.
“We already planning on making that day a special experience for our fans.”
