Mesake Vocevoce was grateful to be given a chance to experience the level of competition in Super Rugby Pacific.
Vocevoce made his debut for the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua on Saturday, coming off the bench in the 10-34 loss to the Blues.
The 20-year-old says there is still a long way to go.
“I am so grateful and blessed that I was able to make my first ever appearance in Super Rugby. I’ve been a development player for a while, have been part of the squad and I’m so glad that the coaches had faith in me, giving me a chance to experience this level of competition,” the former football player said.
“I know there is a lot that I need to learn to improve my game. I will continue learning from the senior players, work on weaknesses and ensure a better performance next time.”
Vocevoce along with Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula, Epeli Momo and Isikeli Rabitu made their maiden Super Rugby appearance for the Drua over the weekend.
“It’s pretty crazy because I used to watch these boys last year when I was working and playing rugby but its cool to be on the big stage now,” shared Armstrong-Ravula.
Winger Momo said, “I’m grateful to have made the first 15 in opening game. This is the first match of the season; we can gauge ourselves and really see where we need to improve on.
“I’m happy to be wearing the Drua jersey and experience what Super Rugby is all about.”
The Drua face Moana next.
