The Baby Flying Fijians produced another explosive display in the Oceania Rugby U20 Challenge, defeating Canada 56-24 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

The Fijians dominated early, racing to a 42-7 halftime lead before weathering a stronger second-half performance from the visitors.

Fiji captain Moses Armstrong Ravula credited his side’s first-half brilliance to a unified effort between the forwards and the backs.

“It was a good game. The first half was unreal. We’ve got some unreal backs.

“The forwards laid down the platform and the set-piece. When you’ve got boys like Adam Khan who’s running up the legs, it’s pretty special to watch, ” Ravula said.

Ravula added that the team executed the game plan laid out by their coaches.

“We just wanted to start hard and I think that’s what we did. Whether or not the intensity dropped, that’s going to be our main focus for next week finishing off the whole 80, not just the first 40.”

Canada captain Daragh Doyle admitted his team was outplayed by a sharper, more physical Fijian side.

“I think Fiji were a step above us in physicality and speed and just, like, willingness to play.

“I think we woke up in the second half, showed what we were capable of, but it was just too late. And they were a better team,” Doyle said.

Despite the loss, Doyle remained optimistic and focused on the road ahead.

“It shows that we still have a way to go to beating these better nations. But we’ll build and look to beat Tonga on Saturday.”

Fiji now shifts its focus to the final round, aiming to maintain momentum and consistency over the full 80 minutes. Canada, meanwhile, hopes to bounce back with a stronger showing against Tonga.
