FIJI has again ranked among some of the world’s best destinations for any couple who needs a special getaway.
Online dating site DatingAdvice.com has named Fiji as one of the “8 Sexiest Island Getaways for Couples”.
Likuliku Lagoon Resort on Malolo Island is rated number five out of the top eight unique location for couples.
Coming in at number three among the Top 10 Most Romantic Islands in the World by Islands Magazine USA in 2012, the resort is the perfect destination for any couple who needs a special getaway.
“The Fijian Lagoon Resort is a mecca of relaxation and luxury, and it is the hottest place to be, considering it is the first and only resort in Fiji with over-water bungalows,” the website, that offers expert dating advice, stated.
It notes the richness of an ancient culture is evoked through the architecture of the resort, built in the style of a Fijian canoe house.
Tourism Fiji global public relations manager Patricia Mallam said Fiji’s placing in the top 10 for couples helped boost Fiji’s stake in the honeymooners niche, especially in the North American market where they had been undertaking campaigns targeted at couples and honeymooners.
“Likuliku is a very popular destination with honeymooners and it’s no surprise to see them making the top 10,” Ms Mallam said.
Tourism Fiji runs campaigns such as the Brides Sweepstakes and participates in trade shows which showcase specific hotels and or resorts in Fiji that are ideal for couples and honeymooners.
“Tourism Fiji also focusses a lot of its PR on highlighting this segment to targeted editorials – such as NZ Weddings – who were here in March to highlight the suitability of certain resorts for couples.”
