Fiji continues to report low numbers in new COVID-19 infections, as the Ministry of Health announced 121 new cases overnight.
Of that, 103 cases were reported from the Western Division and 18 cases from the Central Division.
No deaths were reported in the last 24 hours that ended at 8am today.
However, Ministry of Health permanent secretary Dr James Fong said after further review of their active case database, an additional 9 COVID-19 deaths were recorded for the period July 12 to August 9.
He said all deaths were reported from the Central Division, and the individuals were aged between 49 to 83 years.
He added six of the deceased persons died at home or on their way to the hospital, and that three of them had received the first dose of the vaccine.
Dr Fong said there had been 134 new recoveries to report since the last update, and there were now 12,948 active cases; 50,010 cases during the outbreak that started in April 2021.
