The Fiji Pearls side returned to camp in Suva yesterday after a three-day bonding excursion at the Namosi Eco-Retreat.

Netball Fiji CEO Vivian Koster said the camp was held to help players form close relationships and strengthen the sisterhood that prevailed in the team.

“It has been a good experience and an enjoyable one too,” Koster said.

“The girls also took part in other activities like farming, and also enjoying with the villagers with some singing and village dancing.

“It was about getting back and keeping in touch with their roots.”

Koster said the players were much closer now as a team.

“It is an environment that is more than just netball and it has really been a good change.

“They needed the short break after an intensive three months.

“Without mobile phones and totally disconnected, the girls were looking forward to this opportunity to get away from it all and focus on the uphill task that lies ahead of them in Cape Town, South Africa.”

Koster said everything was falling into place with the preparations.

The World Cup in Cape Town is set to commence on July 28 with the Fiji Pearls grouped in a tough Pool A alongside Australia, Tonga and Zimbabwe.
