More than 60 volunteers from local and international agencies marked International Volunteer Day in Suva yesterday with a joint program highlighting collaboration and community action.

The morning session at the JICA Fiji Office brought together volunteers from Peace Corps, United Nations Volunteers (UNV), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Volunteer Service Abroad (VSA), Australian Volunteers International (AVI), France Volontaires and Selfless Fiji.

Participants took part in icebreakers, networking activities and short group discussions on good practices and challenges in volunteer projects.

Organisers said the session allowed volunteers to connect and learn from each other.

In the afternoon, volunteers gathered at Kadavu House before walking to Nasese for a beach cleanup from the Suva Bowling Club to the FRCS building.

Organisers said the program showcased the vital role volunteers played in supporting communities across Fiji.
