Fiji duo out

KOLINIO Sivoki and Sakaraia Naisua have been dropped from the national football squad for disciplinary reasons for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.

The duo are alleged to have broken camp in Suva on Friday night and gone on a drinking spree.

The side was in the Capital City on the weekend to attend a workshop.

Fiji Football Association vice-president and national team director Tarunesh Reddy said both players were suspended indefinitely from all levels of the sport.

Reddy said both players were spotted at a nightclub on Friday after the team announcement.

“Discipline is a key factor as we prepare for the Olympics,” he said.

“If the players are not disciplined here then we cannot accommodate them for a major championship.

“Both players broke camp and went clubbing. They are not allowed to play in Fiji FA sanctioned matches and will have to appear before the disciplinary committee.”

Reddy said they would travel with 17 players instead of 18.

He said New Zealand-based Joseph Turagabeci had been drafted in. The team departs on July 26.

Fiji is pooled with South Korea, Mexico and Germany.
