A REUNION of foes might describe Pool A of the Bordeaux 7s, in which the Fiji Airways Fiji men’s 7s side is grouped with South Africa, Kenya and Great Britain.
The men were last allocated in a similar pool during the Singapore 7s in January this year, except for Kenya who were playing in the SVNS 2, the second tier of the World Rugby tournament.
Kenya entered the World Championship of the series after consistent top three finishes in the SVNS 2, with an overall finish in second place with 50 points behind the United States with 52 and ahead of Germany in third with 48.
But Fiji also has the Springboks in the same pool, an added layer of opposition and stiff competition from a team that finished second at the Valladolid 7s in Spain last weekend.
South Africa concluded their French outing in that spot after losing 19-26 to Australia in the final.
Great Britain continues holding on in the Championship at the bottom of the table in 12th place with only one point.
Fiji is fourth with 26 points, South Africa is first with 38 points and Kenya punched above its weight to sit in eighth place with 14 points.
