Beautiful images of Fiji’s open landscape captured thousands of US citizens’ attention when it went up live at the renowned Times Square, a major centre of the world’s entertainment industry, in New York this week.

An elated Tourism Fiji chief executive Brent Hill says the ads have already grabbed attention around the world with plenty of people posting selfies in front of it and would be in place for six months.

“So our Where Happiness Comes Naturally campaign continues and we use the imagery around the world to promote our culture, people and beauty,” Mr Hill said.

“One of our latest media placements is a high profile placement in iconic Times Square New York.

“The three different ads will be in place for six months over the key holiday period in New York when maximum people and eyeballs will be on the area.”

The head of Tourism Fiji said their team and agency worked to produce beautiful imagery from the campaign with catchy headlines, designed to contrast the crowded big city with the beauty and open landscapes of Fiji.

He explained that they’ve also been working well together with Fiji Airways which has also been doing some great advertising and sales in the US.

“The US is our number three market and while California and the West Coast is our main source of tourism and marketing spend, alongside Fiji Airways, it’s also important to continue to use eye catching imagery in key cities.

“New York State is our number two source market.

“Fiji Airways is doing some great advertising and sales in the US, and we work really closely with their team to complement and plan our marketing and advertising spend together, for maximum effect.”

Mr Hill said the billboards went up in time with a US sale currently in place for cheap fares from US to Fiji with the main aim to maximise the interest and convert to even more sales and bookings.

“It’s wonderful to see beautiful, warm images of Fiji and our culture in one of the biggest markets and busiest places in the world.”
