The number of active business establishments operating across Fiji reached 20,563 in 2025, according to the Fiji Bureau of Statistics’ Experimental Statistical Business Register.
The latest figures show the Suva, Nasinu, Lami and Navua corridor remains Fiji’s largest business hub, accounting for 7,630 establishments, or about 37 per cent of the total.
Ba and Lautoka followed with 4,534 establishments, while Nadi and Sigatoka recorded 3,238.
Nakasi, Nausori and Korovou accounted for 2,266 establishments, Labasa, Savusavu and Seaqaqa had 2,148, while Rakiraki and Tavua recorded 747.
The statistics also show significant growth across several major industries.
Transport and Storage recorded the strongest increase, rising 40.5 per cent compared with 2024.
Accommodation and Food Service establishments increased by 15.7 per cent, Wholesale and Retail Trade by 11 per cent, Manufacturing by 9 per cent, while Education edged up by 0.2 per cent.
Wholesale and Retail Trade remained the largest of the five major industries, with 7,042 establishments in 2025, compared with 6,344 in 2024.
Transport and Storage increased from 2,002 establishments to 2,812, while Accommodation and Food Service rose from 1,311 to 1,517.
The register also shows sole traders remain the most common form of business ownership, accounting for 9,489 establishments.
There were 7,755 private limited companies, 1,739 non-profit organisations, 601 co-operatives, 561 partnerships, 199 trusts and estates, 116 statutory boards and 103 public limited companies.
The Bureau said the Statistical Business Register provides a comprehensive list of businesses and other entities engaged in producing goods and services in Fiji and is compiled using administrative data.
It cautioned that the 2025 figures are an experimental release, with the updating of establishments still continuing.
